The day after the end of the regular season is known as Black Monday, and it proved true for three more now-former NFL coaches. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers and New York Jets all fired their coaches within hours of the end of their respective seasons.
Those teams join the Detroit Lions in the search for new head coaches. The Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans, like the Lions, fired their coaches during the season and still have existing vacancies.
The Lions have already begun interviewing candidates, as have the Falcons. Many of the same names — 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Titans OC Arthur Smith, former Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis — are mentioned as candidates for multiple teams, including the Lions.
