Washington Football Team. Why it makes sense: This is a playoff team, with an elite defense, and enough offensive weapons that they’re pretty much a quarterback away from making a major push. Washington has boat loads of cap space, meaning they could afford Watson AND still get a weapon or two in free agency. Why it doesn’t: The big sticking point for Watson in Houston is dysfunction, and while the ship has been steadied under Ron Rivera, this is still one of the most dysfunctional teams in the NFL. Would Watson be happy? That’s hard to say.

How much would the Texans want for Watson? It would have to be a lot. I’ve seen some people say the first pick in the draft but that would not be even close to enough. The first thing to consider is that Watson is a sure bet. He is a top 5 QB in the NFL. I don’t care what the supposed upside is of Trevor Lawrence- it’s still a gamble and it would be an expensive gamble as well. While we can look at the rookie contract as cheap (Lawrence’s contract will average about $9 million a year) once we look at that $27M prepaid on Watson its basically sinking about $16 million per year over the next 4 years into Lawrence in a straight up trade. That’s still affordable but who would you rather be? The team holding Watson for under $30 million a year for the next five years or the team with Lawrence for $16 million over the next 4?

I feel pretty confident that the Eagles won’t be breaking this 42-year-old streak in April. This organization clearly doesn’t value the position highly enough to take one in the first round, let alone at No. 6 overall. Some will argue that Parsons should be the exception to the Eagles’ rule. Few will disagree that he’s an intriguing talent and that Philly needs help at the position. But there will be other opportunities to properly address that spot. By contrast, there won’t be as many opportunities to potentially acquire a difference-making wide receiver. On that note, it’s pretty crazy how McShay’s mock has the Eagles passing on Ja’Marr Chase, who might not even make it to Philly’s selection! Taking Parsons over Chase would be bananas.

It’s really hard to imagine what Pederson could have done to Wentz between the end of 2019 and the end of 2020 for things to unravel like this. And if Wentz sees getting benched when he was statistically the worst quarterback in the NFL as some sort of violation of trust then he needs to look in the mirror and come to terms with the fact that he deserved to sit. Pederson hasn’t been perfect. He hasn’t had a great year, that’s obvious. But there isn’t one thing he’s done that warrants Wentz responding the way he has.

The first step is to find the right coordinator and decide what scheme is best for the personnel here. Or, given all the questions, what is the best defense for the coordinator and bring in the right personnel to fit the scheme. This is a big project, one that includes all three levels of the defense. It is not a plug-and-play situation.

An additional 28 pairs were tracked at nests but did not lay eggs. The report is in line with a well-established trend of recovery in the bald eagle population nationally, which was critically endangered in the 1970s and 1980s because of habitat destruction and the widespread use of DDT.
