What a racket… for the kid who received the ultimate souvenir at the French Open.
Moments after Novak Djokovic overcame a two-set deficit to defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the French Open final on Sunday for his 19th career major title, the Serbian star handed his match-winning racket to a young fan behind the players’ seating area.
The boy’s shocked and exuberant reaction was captured on the NBC broadcast and quickly went viral on social media.
The 34-year-old Djokovic became the first male player in the Open era to win each of the four Grand Slam tournaments at least twice in his career. He also is now one major championship behind Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal (20 apiece) for the most men’s Grand Slam singles titles.
