A record six Seattle Sounders were included in starting lineup for the MLS vs. Liga MX All-Star Game on Wednesday. That equals the record for most players from a single MLS team to start an All-Star Game, tying D.C. United in 2006.
Perhaps even more notable than six Sounders being named to the starting lineup are two brothers, Cristian and Alex Roldan. They are the first pair of brothers to even be named to the same All-Star team. They’re joined by Yeimar Gomez Andrade at centerback, Raúl Ruidíaz at forward, João Paulo at defensive midfielder and Nouhou at left back. Nouhou, who has been out with an adductor injury, will be making his first appearance of any kind since May 30.
Starters traditionally play no more than a half, with some going even less. Assuming that’s the case, this may actually be a favor to someone like Nouhou who needs the minutes.
Kickoff: 6:30 PM
