Eagles. If you are looking for a dark horse outside of these teams, I have seen the Eagles around 10-1, and you can never count them out of this kind of a move. That division has no monster team, and while they are kinda retooling under a rookie head coach, they are always eager to make trades to add talent. Yes, they just drafted an Alabama WR in the first round, but the owner has traditionally been a big spender and they have a massive draft haul already assembled over the next few years, making it easier to part with in a situation like this. [BLG Note: I don’t see the Eagles outbidding other teams for Julio.]

Again, this is a big question. Jonathan Jones reports that the Falcons aren’t going to be motivated to move Julio for less than a 2nd round pick, and they’d obviously like to get more back than that. It only takes one team with a burning desire to make a big splash for their offense and fanbase to raise that price, and here I’m looking hard at the Broncos and Raiders in particular. If this team is not desperate to move him—and unless there’s something deep and deeply wrong here we’re not privy to, they’re likely not—then this could drag on for quite a while. Julio is 32 years old and expensive this year, but he’s still Julio Jones, and despite his injuries last year I haven’t seen any evidence that his skill set is dulling in any significant way. Teams have given up far more for far less, and eventually a team that really wants him figures to pony up a 2nd and potentially another pick or player. The question is whether the Falcons will be able to whip up enough of a market to get that deal, since they evidently have not to this point.

Instead of dancing around with “sources familiar to the situation,” Shannon went straight to Julio like it was no big deal, and straight up asked him if he wants to play for the Cowboys, or stay it Atlanta. The answer will not make Falcons fans happy. “I’m out (of Atlanta). I want to win.” I don’t even know if Julio knew he was on live TV, making this whole situation even more intriguing. Of course, Sharpe had to rib him a bit over Dallas being that possible landing spot, saying he wouldn’t win anything with the Cowboys. Not sure that’s really fair, but I mean ... it’s kinda on Dallas to prove they can return to the Super Bowl at this point.

The coaches are trying to lay the foundation for the future. The goal is to install the new schemes and build the right culture. And go compete. Sirianni will push this team to win games, but a down season won’t be the end of the world if the team gets pointed in the right direction. You have to think big picture. The more I see and hear from this coaching staff, the more I believe in them. The real test will be how the team plays, of course, but I’m starting to understand the coaches and what they want. It sure feels like there is a lot more cohesion this year than there was in 2020.

UDFA: My top-ranked undrafted QB, Jamie Newman, ranked as PFF’s No. 6 graded quarterback on throws 10-plus yards downfield and No. 2 (behind Trevor Lawrence) on graded throws beyond 20 yards in 2019. He may have been a R2 pick in the draft had he been Georgia’s starting QB in 2020, but Newman opted-out after the pandemic hit. Awosika was a three-year starter at OT who’ll kick inside due to a lack of length. He was one of the MAC’s best run-blocking tackles over the past three seasons.

14. Brandon Graham, Philadelphia Eagles. Graham is one player whose sack totals at the end of his career won’t do justice to how disruptive he was as a pass-rusher. Since 2014, Graham ranks tied for 16th at the position in total sacks, but only Khalil Mack, Cameron Jordan and Von Miller have recorded more pressures than Graham has (445). Pair that with a league-high 88 tackles for loss or no gain against the run over that same span and you have one of the most well-rounded edge defenders in the game.

There are going to be a lot of factors involved in whether or not Clement makes the 53-man roster. Barkley’s health. Armstead’s recovery from a season lost to COVID-19. Brightwell’s readiness. Clement’s ball security. Right now, with no practice access to see what players look like or how they are being utilized, I would guess that Clement makes the team. His role, though, would be a small one behind Barkley, Booker and possibly even Armstead. If Brightwell and Armstead both impress this summer, Clement could be the odd man out.
