Though Thursday’s game was listed as between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers, it was ostensibly a battle between Steph Curry and Paul George for a lot of the evening.

Thanks to the fact that George was playing with a microphone in his jersey, fans watching the game on television were able to hear some banter between the two players as they each went off. The Clippers forward at one point even jokingly suggested that the two players “make it interesting” by allowing each other to go back-and-forth on making huge shots.

Then George decided to talk himself up a bit to Curry saying he’s “from the logo with it,” or that his range extends to the logo at half court. This was an objectively inoffensive statement, but George likely said this because of Curry’s reputation for taking — and making — three-pointers from that range, so it was a challenge, of sorts.

Unfortunately for George and the Clippers, Curry later made good on that challenge in a late game situation, scoring a three from half court late in the fourth quarter to give the Warriors a late lead. Even worse was that it was in the Clippers star’s face.

If there’s any consolation for George, it’s the fact that Curry’s shot wasn’t the dagger that put away the game for Golden State, an honor which went to Draymond Green. So at least there’s that.
