UFC 260 results: Francis Ngannou mauls Stipe Miocic, wins Heavyweight title - MMA Mania

Heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic, looked to once again silence the skeptics tonight (Sat., March 27, 2021), challenging the most dangerous 265-pound knockout artist in the game today, Francis Ngannou, in the pay-per-view (PPV) main event of UFC 260, which took place inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. With a win, Miocic would add to his record for most title defenses in the division (currently at four).

Miocic defeated Ngannou via unanimous decision at UFC 220 back in Jan. 2018; however, 2.5 years later, it was a totally different story, with Ngannou stuffing Miocic’s first and only takedown attempt in the opening round and then punishing him every second afterward en route to an electric second round stoppage (watch highlights here).

Live updates will begin to flow below the moment the two fighters make their way to the Octagon ...

Ngannou, the challenger, was the first to make his walk to the cage:

And the it was Miocic’s turn ...

Round one:

Both fighters shook hands before the bout, showing their mutual respect. They met in the center of the cage and it was rolling, with Ngannou scoring with a nice low kick to get the action started. He followed up with a body shot, then another low kick as Miocic patiently circled. Ngannou landed clean with a huge shot, but Miocic somehow didn’t seem bothered. Miocic dove in for a single-leg, but Ngannou sprawled and then brawled, drilling Miocic with hard shots from behind as he tried to get back to his feet. Miocic eventually spun away from danger, but then ate a big head kick. No idea how he remained upright. Miocic missed with a low kick and seemed like he was still with it ... somehow. Ngannou continued to stalk Miocic, who was circling from side-to-side trying to avoid eating more of those power shots. Ngannou finished with a low kick after a dominant opening round.

Round two:

Miocic has some damage to his left eye, but he opened up with a stiff left jab to start round two. Ngannou clipped Miocic with a big shot along the fence and Miocic fell on his butt. He tried to get back to his feet, but Ngannou was hitting him with huge punches the whole way up. He somehow got up and created some space, connecting with a big right hand; however, Ngannou was unfazed, drilling him with an uppercut that wobbled him terribly. Then he drilled him with a hard cross that had him out on his feet, falling backward awkwardly on his leg. He was out, but referee Herb Dean was late to the party and Ngannou finished him off with a hammerfist for good measure.

AND NEW!!!!!

Good luck, Jon Jones.
