What’s being said nationally after Michigan loses to UCLA in Elite Eight - MLive.com

The Michigan basketball team’s season came to an end Tuesday night in heartbreaking fashion, falling 51-49 to No. 11 seed UCLA.

The top-seeded Wolverines scored a season-low in points and went cold down the stretch, missing their final eight shots. They had several opportunities to tie or take the lead late but couldn’t convert. Franz Wagner and Mike Smith particularly struggled, combining to shoot 2 of 17 from the floor. Each missed 3-pointers in the final minute that would have put Michigan (23-5) in front.

Meanwhile, it held UCLA to 38.9% shooting but had no answer for Johnny Juzang, who had a game-high 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting.

The Bruins, who beat Michigan State in a play-in game to reach the field of 64, are now on to the Final Four, where they will face another No. 1 seed in Gonzaga.
