NFL training camps, with their scripted practices featuring no tackling to the ground, can leave the false impression that 25 quarterbacks are coming off excellent camps and ready to attack the regular season.

Realism is about the replace such optimism as the 2021 regular season kicks off this week. Every team has something to worry about, from the Super Bowl favorite Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs to the teams at the other end of the expectations index.

My annual column highlighting one worry for every team heading into the season is packed with insights from NFL executives. We begin with the Arizona Cardinals, end with the Washington Football Team and cover all 30 teams in between.

Arizona Cardinals

The worry: An already shaky situation at cornerback becomes an even bigger liability following Malcolm Butler’s retirement.

“They could be starting a rookie in Marco Wilson, Malcolm Butler was declining even if he had kept playing, so that is the worry for me — their pass defense — especially in that division with Russell Wilson and now Matthew Stafford.”
